Acceptable Use Policy

This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It exists to keep the Service fast, fair and lawful for everyone.

You may

• Look up contractors you're considering hiring, working with, lending to or insuring.
• Build the API into your own product or workflow to verify contractors, within your plan's limits.
• Keep the results of lookups you've made, for your own records.

You may not

• Scrape or bulk-extract. No crawling the website, and no systematic downloading of records through the API beyond verifying the contractors you actually deal with.
• Resell or redistribute. No reselling, sublicensing or publishing the data, or using it to build a competing database or service.
• Get around limits. No rotating IP addresses or keys, sharing keys, or otherwise evading rate limits or access controls.
• Make FCRA decisions. No using results to decide anyone's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or tenancy.
• Harm people. No harassing, stalking, doxxing or unlawfully discriminating against anyone named in the records.
• Misrepresent the data. No presenting our results as official board records or as an endorsement of any contractor.
• Attack the Service. No probing for vulnerabilities, overloading the Service, or interfering with other users. Found a security issue? Email [email protected].
• Break the law in any other way.

Enforcement

We may throttle, suspend or revoke access that breaks this policy, with or without notice, and refuse future access. Serious misuse may also be reported to the relevant authorities.
